Devise a burial plan for your fortress to deal with unexpected deaths swiftly, before they rot and cause distress to your fallen dwarf's friends. Once you've dealt with one corpse, you'll start thinking about future corpses. Note: Although all deceased creatures are listed in the units screen, it is not possible to centre on them like you can with living creatures. Your dwarves should place the corpse in the coffin pretty quickly. If you still can't find the body, it may be that your dwarves have already laid it to rest in an available coffin.or if no coffins were available, a refuse pile. Otherwise, if you got an announcement for the dwarf dying, you should be able to centre on it from the announcement screen. This can lead you close to the location of where the death actually occurred. I quickly put together a butcher's workshop and designated a few dwarves with butchery and hunting skills, and they seemed to get some usable meat off the bodies - I saw 'return corpse. All enemy corpses, body parts, chunks, bones and shells go into refuse piles, and all friendly corpses body parts chunks and bones go into the graveyard. My fortress was recently invaded by a bunch of monkeys, who were immediately dispatched by the small army of semi-feral cats I keep around for moments like this. Distracted v0.42.01: The dwarf is distracted by unmet needs. Not a good sign for a fortress, as it can lead to emotional breakdowns (detailed on the Stress page) and eventual insanity if left to accumulate. You need to set up a refuse pile outside your fortress. Stressed: The dwarf is feeling the effects of stress. A happy dwarf (ie with negative stress) will never emigrate. Have you tried looking at the combat reports (using r from the main menu)? If you find the report related to this dwarf and open it by pressing the return key, you can centre on the location of the last report using z (which sometimes lists things that happened to your dwarf after the combat finished, for example if your dwarf lost consciousness, or vomited).
